60 Seconds With: Phil Tufnell

Paragon sat down with the one and only Phil Tufnell, as we ramp up for our World Cup Screening. Click here to review our packages, or read on to hear Phil’s thoughts.

Phil, we can’t wait to have you at our World Cup Screening, what are your thoughts on England’s chances this summer:

It’s all about progress for me this summer; we’re not going to go from woeful to world beaters but we’ve got a decent group draw and if we can take the points against Panama and Tunisia, hopefully, we can run some steam up for the Belgium game and (fingers crossed) the knockout’s.

How much are you looking forward to the World Cup Screening itself:

Very much so! The screening of England v Wales a few years back was a great laugh, and with Paul (Merson) coming back as well I’m sure it’ll be a great event. You guys always put on a good show and hopefully, England do the business and make it a bit of a party.

So far we’ve confirmed Chris Kamara, Paul Merson and yourself, Phil, are you looking forward to being onstage with the guys:

Both guys are football legends in their own ways, both were players but obviously Merse is a hero of mine, playing for the Arsenal and England and I know Kammy well from him being on A Question of Sport a couple of times as well as some very funny moments on Sky.

A prediction for the game please Phil:

I don’t want to sound too cocky, but I reckon if Wales got past them in the Euro’s then we’ve got to be in with a shout…2-1 to the England, setting us up nicely for the rest of the tournament.

I imagine you’re very busy with the Cricket season now in full swing Phil:

Yes, we had an interesting time against Pakistan, the second test was encouraging, before a very embarrassing ODI against Scotland! I’m looking forward to the rest of the summer though and especially the test series against India. I’ll be on 5Live with TMS for that one. Other than that we’ll be back in the studio filming the 48th series of A Question of Sport!

Finally Phil, who’s going to be crowned World Champions:

Brazil- they’re going to love the Russian weather!
