Incentive Trends for 2016
In 2015 we’ve seen client incentive briefs change quite considerably. Groups are now smaller in size, the lead time has become shorter and clients, as always, want something truly unique and original, a “WOW” factor or engaging activity too.
This is exciting as I, for one, have always wanted to have the scope and a client’s trust to be able to propose not only a destination out of the ordinary but also an itinerary like no other that pushes a few boundaries. After all – an incentive trip should be filled with “out of this world” and “once in a lifetime” opportunities and excursions that guests would never be able to afford or dare take part in on their own vacation trips abroad. Finally! Clients are starting to take more risks and push the envelope a little bit more.
One destination that I’ve personally been excited to pitch last year was Lapland – A Scandinavian Adventure. The perfect time to travel is January and February when snow is abundant and there is so much to do that is so different from most other destinations. Guests are also fully catered for with state-of-the-art thermal clothing from head to toe to change into as soon as they arrive.
• Snowmobiling – where guests get to self-drive
• Husky sledding
• Visiting a reindeer farm
• Ice karting and quad bikes in the snow
• Cross country skiing
• Sleeping in an igloo with a see-through roof, falling asleep under the stars
• See the famous Aurora Borealis by snowmobile on a night safari
• Try your hand at ice fishing
All of the above coupled with some unique and interesting hotels and restaurants makes for a truly unforgettable incentive trip that guests will be talking about for ages.
On the other end of the spectrum, offering sunsets to die for and also a once in a lifetime experience is The Serengeti, Tanzania followed by Zanzibar. This trip is easily combined as a two-stop and complement each other well. Two nights in a 5 star lodge in the heart of the Serengeti going on 4×4 game drives, seeing the migration and soaking up all the peacefulness the bush has to offer. Followed by 2/3 nights enjoying some of the best beaches in the world in Zanzibar.
• Hot air ballooning
• Ngorongoro Crater
• Swahili cookery course
• Dolphin adventures
• Sunset cruise
• Amazing beaches
We’re looking forward to a 2016 where we can materialise many incentive trips and hopefully one of these fabulous destinations mentioned above.
