Paragon host Rugby’s Biggest Year – The Gala Dinner

Rugby’s Biggest Year – The Gala Dinner, celebrating the growing levels in rugby in this country and just three days ahead of England’s first rugby match, welcomed 750 guests for an evening of entertainment with rugby sporting legends.

The evenings Host and MC was former England and Lions international Martin Bayfield, leading a night packed with entertainment from Al Murray, The Pub Landlord and The Indie Killers. The highlight of the night was a live Q&A with 2003 Rugby World Cup wiBlog-Rugby-dinner-image-4nners Lawrence Dallaglio, Matt Dawson, Jason Leonard and Lewis Moody.

Tom Beattie, our head of rugby at Paragon said: “We are delighted to have helped organise such an event, which has highlighted the positive impact rugby is having and so allowing Paragon to organise an event for four wonderful charities.”

The evening saw guests greeted by a stunning champagne welcome in the venue’s Ballroom. Food served by Hilton Blog-Rugby-dinner-image-2Hotel included sesame salmon with compressed cucumber, apple and celery followed by a main of fillet of beef, dauphinoise potato and asparagus spears. The pudding was an indulgent apple crumble and vanilla custard.

Mike Martin, our MD said “it has been a successful year so far for Paragon. We are delighted to align ourselves with such high profile events and brands that raise money for these chosen high profile causes. Once again guests were surrounded by the very highest profile rugby personalities providing a fantastic and unique atmosphere.”

The evening continued with a grand auction and prize raffle, raising funds for Beating Bowel Cancer, The Dallaglio Foundation, Jason Leonard’s Atlas Foundation and The Lewis Moody Foundation. This was followed by a live band taking the dinner it into the early hours of the morning.

Other famous rugby greats in attendance included: Neil Back, Andy Goode, Simon Shaw, Iain Balshaw, Joe Worsley, Paul Grayson, George Chuter, Tim Payne, James Simpson-Daniel, Tom May and Shane Geraghty.
