Paragon organise ‘An Evening with the Stars’

An ‘Evening with the Stars’, a fundraising gala dinner held at the iconic Battersea Evolution last night in aid of BBC Children in Need, welcomed guests for an evening of glitzy entertainment where stars from the world of sport and television were present to help raise money for this incredible charity.

Impressionist and comedian Jon Culshaw entertained everyone from the start as host and compare, giving the guests fantastic impressions of the Strictly judges, Ozzy Osbourne and Terry Wogan to name just a few. The entertainment of the night included an opening performance by LED Dance Troupe, music from the frontman of the legendary band Keane, Tom Chaplin and Scouting for Girls, both of which got all the guests to their feet singing and dancing. We were also treated to a selection of beautiful dances from Strictly Come Dancing’s Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite.

Organiser Hollie Sebire, Head of Event Operations at Paragon, said: “It is such a privilege to be able to organise an event for such a worthy cause. It was great to come back to Battersea Evolution which feels like home for the event and we cannot wait to start planning next year’s event to make it even bigger and better than ever”.

The food served by Battersea Evolution and designed by Michelin Star Chef Angela Hartnett by Smart was outstanding and included red mullet with white bean and jamon gnocchi, saffron sauce. Followed by slow roast neck of lamb shepherd’s pie, roast rump of lamb, butternut puree and buttered greens. Dessert was a chocoholics dream – a delice of cassis on a chocolate sponge and mirror glaze, gold chocolate shard and yogurt sorbet.

Mike Martin, MD at Paragon said: “Once again guests were able to enjoy the company of some great names in such a unique and warming atmosphere. 2015 has been another fantastic success for Paragon and ‘An Evening with the Stars’. We are honoured that we can work with such amazing charities like BBC Children in Need to raise money for the UK’s most disadvantaged children and look forward to continuing this work in 2016.”

The evening continued with a grand auction and prize raffle, followed by Scouting for Girls kick starting the after-party and getting everyone into a conga line and dancing on stage who went on into the early hours of the morning.

Celebrities in attendance included BBC breakfast presenter Mike Bushell, Sky Sports Rachel Wyse and Vicky Gomersall, rugby players Tom May, Iain Balshaw and James Simpson-Daniel, most capped England footballer Ray Clemence, snowboarder Jenny Jones, skeleton gold medallist Lizzie Yarnold, olympian Chemmy Alcott, ex F1 driver Max Chilton, cricketer Graham Thorpe and Nick Compton and gymnast Sam Oldham.
