Rachel Wyse talks Monaco Grand Prix
It’s Sunday 24 May 2015 and a gentle warm breeze is blowing across our 9th floor balcony as I take in one of the greatest views In world sport. I’m with Paragon: attending the iconic Monaco Grand Prix.
It’s been a busy day already: as well as running these superb balcony suites; Paragon also run a pre race VIP hospitality lunch at the nearby Marriott Riviera Hotel overlooking the picturesque Porte De La Monaco. While the guests enjoyed their three course meal I was up on stage interviewing former F1 driver Paul di Resta who gave some great insights into F1 and actually driving in the Monaco Grand Prix. I was then whisked off to meet some guests on Paragon’s luxury trackside yacht – what an experience that is, yards from the track.
Finally up to the Shangri La, the apartment block overlooking the starting grid, where I find myself on the balcony with a glass of fizz, taking in the panorama of Monaco Harbour and its fleet of yachts, soaking up the atmosphere and waiting for the race to begin. when the Grand Prix got underway the experience and view was breathtaking – I’ve certainly had worse Sundays!
Paragon’s UK reps and their bilingual local staff know how to take care of their guests. F1-themed hostesses ensure no-one’s glass is empty and the local Mediterranean cuisine is superb as you’d expect. Monaco is most people’s dream F1 race, and with good reason. I’ve been lucky enough to attend many of the world’s biggest sporting events in my job at Sky Sports but this was right up there in the best I’ve experienced – these guys make sure they do it right and all my expectations were exceeded – I’ll certainly be back for more next year – hopefully I’ll see you there!
