The trends at Royal Ascot: What to wear for women
Royal Ascot is one of the most fashion conscious events of the summer and 2016 was no exception. With the trend of the year being (a very daring) white, the course was filled with glamorous attendee’s donning some of the biggest and best labels in the world. Ascot also features new and up and coming designers as well as homemade treats so you can be sure to get a wide range of eye-catching fashion. I take a look at some of the hottest outfits of 2016 and look forward to the Ascot 2017 potential trends.
Lady Windsor wore this to a Royal event last year and for me it’s a perfect Ascot 2017 look. She paired an elegant front-pleated dress with tweed sleeves and couture details which looked a touch vintage and absolutely incredible. It shows how some of the most understated outfits could stand out against all of the colour at Ascot. I particularly like how she paired the black and white outfit with the bold yellow clutch. A great way to add a splash of colour which really brings out her skin tone.
When most women think of Ascot they think dresses. Why not opt for a smart trouser suit to really stand out from the crowd and add a formal flair and masculine tailoring to something which is so traditionally feminine. The outfit has been paired with baby pink, a great fresh look for the season. Aside from the striking nature of the outfit the practicalities are far more suited to a day outside in the British breeze. Personally, I would prefer this elegant look over a dress any day!
We could not do a review of Ascot outfits without reviewing the icon that is The Duchess of Cambridge. Kate will always look on trend, however, this red skater skirt dress does wonders for her lean figure. The colour has a nod to her Royal status and lifts her skin tone – it is the colour to wear if you want to stand out at Ascot. She has been bold with a beautiful tilt hat and finished off the outfit with nude heels. Why not steal an accessory idea from the Duchess and find a vintage broach to enhance your outfit and add a regal touch.
Our beloved HM Queen… She will never not look the best-dressed woman at Ascot! Yellow suits her down to a tea and makes her look simply stunning. The black handbag and the black shoes really make the yellow pop, and for me, this is my favourite outfit of them all! Her signature white gloves finish the outfit off, why not add gloves to your outfit in 2017?
2017 is going to be a complete contrast to the minimalist and white 2016 trend. Think bold, bright clashing colours with orange and red or red and purple being particularly on trend. Geometric patterns are also said to be a hit in 2017 so why not choose a bag or shoes with this key feature.
