Throwback Thursday: Paragon’s First Event
This week we’re reminiscing on when our Event Management division kick started, our very first Paragon event, so let’s rewind to the 2002 World Cup in Yokohama, Japan. We didn’t go to Japan unfortunately, but we did host a World Cup Screening at the prestigious Soho House.
With Japan being eight hours ahead, it made timings for the day a little complicated so instead of the usual screening followed by a gala dinner we tried something a little different. We kicked off the event with a full ‘Irish’ breakfast including sausages, bacon, beans, black and white pudding, hash browns, the works. We didn’t want to miss any of the trimmings. You are probably wondering why we picked an ‘Irish’ breakfast given that the event was held in the UK, well the event was for Allied Irish Bank and the match that was screened was Ireland versus Spain. Makes sense!
Around 50 of Allied Irish Bank’s guests attended and the room was completely decked out in green given the Irish theme and as you can imagine copious amounts of Guinness were drunk, despite only being breakfast time.
Cricket legend, King of the ‘I’m a Celebrity’ jungle and TV personality Phil Tufnell hosted the event and commentated for the guests throughout the match. As usual he provided plenty of banter and had the whole room laughing which created a great atmosphere.
It was a fantastic first event for Paragon and a great sign of things to come.
